Barba Papa

Barba Papa reflects the completion of my Master of Arts (MA) Graduate Degree in Media at
Rhode Island College in May 2003.

Format: Short animation presented as a gallery installation
Medium: Animated clips rendered as vector and imported into Macromedia Flash

Process: Characters constructed using nurbs and animated using softbodies in Alias Maya

Concept: Barba Papa incorporates Maya's softbody dynamics and global physics. Movement
is selectively manipulated by applying the softbody effect to the Barba papa mesh and
adjusting the individual goal weights. The typographic translation from German into English and
eventually into phonetics visually demonstrates my graphic experiments with semiotics.
All sound effects were generated using FL Studio and various combinations of digital Synths.
